Nasugbu Trilogy Dayhike: Mt. Batulao, Mt Talamitam & Mt. Apayang

Mt. Talamitam

TRILOGY HIKE. A failed attempt.

Have you heard of trilogy hike? If you are new to hiking and trekking, sure you do. A trilogy is something that has three parts. The tri-meaning “three,” in trilogy. According to vocabulary.com, the word originated from the Greek word trilogia, meaning “series of three related tragedies performed at Athens at the festival of Dionysus. Basically a “trilogy hike” is hiking or reaching 3 peaks in a span of one day. I have been waiting for so long to do this so I hitchhiked once again, and this time, a trilogy dayhike to Mt. Batulao, Mt. Talamitam and Mt. Apayang with sidetrip to Layon Bilog River.

We arrived at jump-off point at around 3.30am and the guides told us that we cannot hike Mt. Batulao. Oops… it was a failed trilogy hike! So disappointing, Mt. Batulao was closed due to military exercises, or shall I say encounters. Eh?

Anyway, we carried on hiking the 2 mountains, Mt. Talamitam and Mt. Apayang. Do not belittle these 2 mountains. You might end up rolling down your butt. Downhill is more difficult than the uphill climb.

We reached Mt. Talamitam as early as 7am in a bright cloudy day. But the sun was not out yet then.

Stayed 30 minutes at the summit for picture taking and breakfast.

Sadly, no Layon Bilog River for us rather we trailed down to go to the beach which apparently was not a good idea too.  So we ended up eating lunch at the house of a very generous woman. I forgot her name, but she was nice and accommodating. She sold us “balot” and opened her house to us 29 hikers. It was a pretty nice experience knowing somewhere, someone could still share food and openly share space to other people. It was humbling.
